twas the day after Christmas …

and all through the house, not a Clark-ie was stirring, not even a mouse … we’re all about relaxing today.  (though I did ROCK on the Beatles Rockband before!)

I hope you all had as great a day as my family did.  One sister did not make it here from out of state, for the first time ever, so that was sad.  But we had a happy day otherwise.  The children, who were secretly worried that roof-top disasters would dash their sugar plum dreams, were surprised by their loot.   And very appreciative, which is always nice to see.  I custom ordered a special necklace for my daughter on etsy, and she loved it to pieces!   Reasonable AND adorable?  Excellent.  Also for the first time, my brothers and sisters and I put a price limit on how much we spent on each other.   For the most part, everyone worked extra hard to find something special, and did.  My sweet husband made us breakfast, and dinner was delicious!   Prime Rib, with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and salad … yum!  Off to Dad’s for leftovers tonight!

Hope your Christmas was wonderful too!

o Christmas tree!

Here she is, in all her glory. Yes, my tree is a she. Fruits, flowers and butterflies abound. Pears and pinecones throughout. Tiny little fruits. I hope you like it. Christmas 09 054

I made the flowers – there are about 20 on the tree, white and snowy …. Christmas 09 055

Two of my favorite ornaments – I got the moon and the star on a vacation years ago, and love them still. Christmas 09 056

Our angel watches over our tree every year. A gift from my dad our first married Christmas. (sorry dad, I am still glad I chose this one instead of the large light up star!) I love it when something I chose is something I would choose all over again, even years later … Christmas 09 057

And there you have it. A Clark Christmas tree … I may post some more favorites, but right now, I am so happy my tree is up. I think I’ll go curl up in my favorite chair, in the sunniest spot in the house, with a good book. Then I can admire this old girl while we have her. Merry Christmas everyone. Hope the season brings you love, joy, peace and hope… xoxo, Stephanie

it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … finally!

Well, the snow has fallen (one and a half feet!) and the roof is fixed (hallelujah!) and the tree is up (hooray!!) … finally!   It is beginning to feel a little Christmas-y here at last!  We’re not done yet , but we got a lot done and are almost there.   First up, a bulletin board my husband made for me for the photo cards.   (I didn’t want to ruin the plaster as it isn’t staying here, so I am dealing with the green wires for now.  After the holidays it is going to hang the other way and go into the kitchen.)

Then the rest of the cards so far …

Here are some of the presents, ready for eager little hands to open them …. I went with green and gold this year … (yes, I DO coordinate my wrap every year … I know, I know …. )Christmas 09 037

Different versions of the little elves are all over the house …. you' might also have noticed that there is a theme of fruit and flowers.   It starts at the front door, and continues through the house …

I love it!   OK, so tomorrow – the tree!

there is no way to make this post pretty…

Well, the Christmas lights and decorations are all down! Sooo sad!  But the good news is that the roof is underway and will be finished way in advance of the BLIZZARD we are expecting.  I guess while we are snowed in, we can decorate the tree finally!  You should hear how noisy it is here today.  Sugar had to go to work with my husband – she was crying and shaking so … here is what we are in the middle of …

Thursday, December 10

when it rains it pours …

Just a quick post – I didn’t forget to put up my Christmas decorations – we just sprung a leak. Several leaks.  So the tree is not up, the sunroom is in the living room, and the bathroom and dining room are all disheveled …. oh well, at least I hadn’t decorated the tree – we always put it right where the biggest leak is!  (I never thought I would need to write “the biggest leak”!)  This was all of a sudden.  We are getting estimates, but so far the lowest is around $14,000.  Yes.  $14,000.   And two weeks before Christmas.

the grand finale …

And now for the greenhouse and some of it’s beautiful flowers … not many words necessary … enjoy … It’s the last day of posting for Planting Fields … next up will be my Christmas decorating …
