a little walk in fall …

004e

leads finding all sorts of hidden, pretty things.   I think few things are as lovely as the soft gold light in the fall.   It’s still been crazy here, but in a good way.  Lots of Halloween parties and trick or treating and football and fun.  Add in some camera and computer issues and I feel like I’ve neglected the blog lately, but I have been following up with most of you.  I still feel a little uninspired, but I have begun making some gum paste roses again.  It takes one day for each layer to dry, so the process takes a while, but I plan on making a pretty cake when I have a bunch of them.

Thank you to everyone who left your sweet encouraging comments on my cakes.  I’m really still learning, so I have had as many failures as successes.  But I’m hoping with practice to get more consistent results.  Your comments really made my day and inspired me to keep at it.  So thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

Best,
Stephanie

  2. I love this shot Stephanie. I think we both have a thing for items lost and found in the woods. It is hard to resist isn't it :) I love the angle on this one. I just went off to see these gorgeous creations you have been making. Stay with it...you have got the gift! I think if I even attempted one of those flowers half of it would either be in my hair or somewhere on my sleeves. I admire you for tackling these and I imagine while time consuming you must love creating them...in a relaxing sort of way :)

Best wishes Stephanie and thanks for your comment. I am feeling better already, who wouldn't after seeing you blog ;)

  9. remember that inspiration is not like a faucet that you open and close at your own will... as long as you are having fun doing what you're doing who cares if it's not perfect... have fun!!!!

  10. Stephanie, I always love your photos. As for your comment, suggesting I fix it where my blog will open up links in a new window, I've searched all over trying to figure out how to do that. Checked Blogger Help, Googled it, etc. I didn't see any email address for you, so hope you don't mind me asking you this way. How do I do that?

  11. Walking on the fallen leaves...breathing in the perfumes and colours...looking for hidden treasures: a mushroom, a flower...Every season is beautiful. As an only child I used to look forward to Autumn, which meant going back to school and meeting with friends. At University I so much liked my studies that I declared I only love winter. When I got married and had children I loved Summer. As they grew up I longed for Spring. See, we need our time to appreciate everything, every gift that is given to us.
Why don't you post a step-by-step of your lovely creations? We have birthdays coming over here in December! Just saying:-))

  12. I had no idea it takes so long to make the decorations on a cake. I agree with Irene, I'd love to see a step-by-step of what you create. Love and hugs!
