while I have the travel bug

Here is a destination I really want to try in the early fall.  It is called Feather Down Farms, and it is based on a European travel concept.  Right now there are only 3 farms in the US - 2 in upstate New York and one in Boone County, Illinois (about 85 miles northwest from Chicago).  I think this would be a fun idea before the kids get too much older.   Now, bear in mind, I am not a camping sort of girl, but I would definitely sign up here!  Flushing toilet and  photo ops?  I’m so there.

This is what the tents at Feather Down Farms look like.  You can enjoy nature, help out on the farm, pick your own vegetables, have a hay ride, get fresh food at the farm store, have pizza baked in a rustic outdoor oven, ride horses, and so much more.  Each farm has its own activities and all you need to bring is yourself and your clothes  – everything else is provided – and the tents are the same at each farm.  And you get fresh eggs every morning from the henhouse.  I love fresh eggs – they taste so much better than what you get in the supermarket.

How cool are those tents?  They say there are many more locations coming over the next year, so maybe there will be one near you soon.

Can you imagine how many photos I would take if we get to go?

Best,

Stephanie

  5. Brilliant idea! The best of both worlds, really. Camping, and all the comforts of home.
