lemon drops …

I’ve been reading a lot lately about drinking a cup of lemon water first thing in the morning.  So I decided to give it a try.  Today was the first day, and I’ll keep you posted and let you know if I notice any changes.  It is definitely one of those “can’t hurt” things.  And from what they say, the benefits are enormous.  Lemons are known for their antibacterial, antiviral, and immune boosting abilities.  They’re packed with citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoids and pectin.

Know what else?  They aid digestion, are high in minerals and vitamins, and help release toxins from your digestive tract.  They’re a natural diuretic, help keep your urinary tract healthy, and stimulates the liver to help clear toxins out of the body.  The potassium in lemons stimulates brain and nerve function and helps control blood pressure.  They’re anti-inflammatory and help support the respiratory function, and increase iron absorption.  In addition to help fighting off colds, when you do get one, the body produces less phlegm.  They are alkaline in nature, which helps the body fight disease, and joint pain and inflammation.   By combating free radicals, they fight wrinkles and blemishes.  Lemons also increase energy, and can help with anxiety.  They promote healing, freshen breath, and hydrate the lymph system.   And last but not least, they aid in weight loss.

It’s a long list, and there are a few other benefits I didn’t list here.  So in case you want to try it with me, all you do is warm water to lukewarm, and squeeze one half of a lemon into it.  That’s it.   Drink it first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything else, every day.   If you workout in the morning, they say you should drink this first.

I know this is a departure from my regular posts, but in case it helps anyone out there, I wanted to share.

  1. Hmmm will be interested to hear the results - keep us posted

  2. I love lemons but my downfall is that I love my lemons with lots of sugar-lol. Good luck with the new regiman.

Of course, I love that pretty dish and saucer too.

    Enjoy the week,

  3. Stephanie,
This is a great thing to do! I made some fairly major dietary changes at the end of last year and this is one thing I did consistently for months. I think it definitely does help. I have let coffee sneak back in my life with soy milk (no sugar!) but this is a great reminder to get back to my daily lemon water. Good luck!

    xoxo Elizabeth

  4. well I'm drinking green tea with lemon... but somehow i don't think that counts. A very pretty tea cup you have Stephanie.

  5. My husband does this and he's a pretty healthy person. Can't say whether this contributes to it or not but as you say, it can't hurt!
